After World War II., a short film directed by Michelangiolo Antonioni was recorded about Arundo Donax being a possible alternative of wool, cotton or silk as bio clothes. The 10 minute long short film was taken in a comune called Torviscosa in the Trieste plain. People already knew the countless uses of Arundo nearly a century ago. The video is focusing on the transformation of Arundo into cellulose from which biopellets, biogas, paper and even clothes (bio clothes) could be produced. There were thousands of hectares of Arundo planted and harvested from Venetia all the way to Trieste.
